obviously there is a clear top to the room with water on it. It gives the illusion everyone is underwater hanging out but clearly fake. In one picture you can see the ladder is split. Plus if they were really under water their hair would be floating and not pressed against their heads.

Red Note on 11:01 PM said...

It's a good thing Internet Detective "negzero7" is on the case, Otherwise we might have all thought those people were really standing underwater.

That was a close one.

Leo on 11:05 PM said...

Haha.

Red Note make me laffy

Jon on 11:05 PM said...

negzero7

Of COURSE the people displayed areny really underwater. That is the point of the display.... a cool and fun effect easily (albeit expensivly) attained.

Unless you were trying to inform us that humans can't breathe underwater....which would further prove that you sir, are an idiot.

Janick on 11:08 PM said...

Damn that negzero7 must have some education to spot this, I am impressed :-)

Dan on 11:36 PM said...

I'm just waiting for someone to try to dive in

Ty on 11:47 PM said...

They're drowning! Why isn't that guy helping them?

jackcall on 11:57 PM said...

negzero7 you do know that light passing through materials of different refractive index it will seem like it's breaking, right?

Thank god for "Negzero7", he saved me ALOT of time i would have spent trying to figure this bad boy out.
Thanks Negzero7!

And once again Negzero7 saves the day, we can all sleep sound, never fear citizens of the internets, The Negman is watching over us...

prelude619 on 1:06 AM said...

Pretty cool!

cwiceman on 1:21 AM said...

And what is really funny; if negzero7 did not leave that original comment, the resulting commentary would be completely focused on similar speculative reporting. How quick people are to ridicule someone with "duh" logic which they themselves might not initially possess. Just a thought...

Timothy Parez on 1:23 AM said...

It's art... and of course it's not real... lol just imagine that.

Although if you look at the first picture without looking at any other pictures you might have thought they put a bunch of dummies under water.

Red Note on 1:58 AM said...

Voice of reason "cwiceman" comes out of nowhere with a shocking blow to all you internet badguys out there. Without the help of intrepid blog commentators, we ignorant masses would be forced to conclude that Japanese people were actually amphibians. Yes, how quickly we jump on those who only seek to help us on our paths to enlightenment. *strokes neckbeard*

The interesting thing is this "pool" looks like it gets a decent amount of foot traffic. And can anyone spot where the people are entering the pool from?

willoughby on 7:32 AM said...

hahahaha, the pics aren't nearly as entertaining as netzero7's comment and everyone else's comments regarding netzero's comment.. i love the internets.

KitCatMnM on 7:33 AM said...

Entrance? It would appear to me that it's on the side opposite the ladder, since it's the only side not pictured

Aaron on 8:16 AM said...

So wait, just to be clear, am I right in saying those people AREN'T underwater?

Dallas on 9:58 AM said...

Well, technically, they ARE "under water". You can't deny that there's water above them. ;)

Thanks negzero for making me laugh btw!

hanis21 on 7:02 AM said...

wow wow...its quite obvious
negzero went to a elite private school...cause i mean us public school people were never taught this thing called "thinking" instead we were taught about cost cutting and 1 textbook between 4 people.
well at least we know the world is in the hand of intelligent people
like negzero...lead the way
and let the education gap increase until only 5 people can afford to go to school.
on behalf of all the people who went to under-funded-borderline-government schools with ex soviet union facilities such as Atlas' that consisted of stalin's old battle plans and propaganda such as "viva la revolution' on each second page. thank you negzero it is people like you that lets me sleep at night

John on 11:13 AM said...

This pool is at the Kanazawa modern art museum in Ishikawa prefecture.

I was there actually 3 weeks ago studying at a school.

It's just a clear piece of plexiglass. I went under the pool. It's really trippy from both sides haha

It's funny to see that pictures. I've been there last year; when I went to japan with my colleagues at aquabot regarding a conference with some clients there. It's part of an abstract art museum.
There are two clear acrylic glasses about a foot apart and water is filled inside. The top surface is also filled with about 4 to 5 inches of water so that it just look like water. May be you want to look at this movie clip also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7paSzXEe2Q
You can't put the hand through the water. I was under there as well, and there is no way to do that.
