A Phallus Garden in "Love Land"

There's a persistent prejudice against the Japanese, the Koreans and other Asians -- that they're prudish and repressed. But go to "Love Land" on Cheju Island in South Korea and you'll start to question that cliché.

Jeju Loveland (also known as Love Land) is an outdoor sculpture park which opened in 2004 on Cheju Island in South Korea. The park is focused on a theme of sex, running sex education films, and featuring 140 sculptures representing humans in various sexual positions. It also has other elements such as large phallus statues, stone labia, and hands-on exhibits such as a "masturbation-cycle." The park's website describes the location as, "a place where sexually-oriented art and eroticism meet."

After the Korean War, the island became a popular honeymoon destination for Korean couples, due to the island's warm climate. Many of the couples had wed because of arranged marriages, and the island also became known for being a center of sex education. According to an article in Spiegel magazine, in the late 1980s journalist and travel writer Simon Winchester reported that some hotel employees on the island performed as "professional icebreakers." In the evenings, the hotel would offer an entertainment program featuring erotic elements, to help newlyweds relax.

In 2002, graduates of Seoul's Hongik University began creating sculptures for the park, which opened on November 16, 2004. Encompassing an area the size of "two soccer fields", all of the sculptures can be viewed in approximately one hour, and there is an additional monthly rotating exhibit featuring works by different Korean artists.

Visitors are required to be at least 18 years old, and a separate play area is available for minors while adults visit. info source:Wikipedia

That is exactly the problem. There is nothing disgusting about sex. It's a basic human instinct and you wouldn't be here if not for it!

Ignorance is bliss isn't it? Sex is not DISGUSTING. As society grows, minds need to aswell. If we're all stuck in a traditional state of mind, society would never move forward and we would all still be stuck in the cave man era. This goes for civil rights and freedom of speech and so on. Just because the park is there, people who don't want to go don't have to go. I believe its not all for entertainment purposes aswell, it teaches safe sex which a lot of younger audiences should pay attention to. People who think that a lecture or two can prevent their kids from pre-marital sex is wrong. Yes it does work, but it doesn't work for ALL teens. If I ever have any kids, I would teach him about safe sex and still impose my lecture of post marital sex. JUST IN CASE. YOu don't want babies popping around everywhere without stable familes right? Sex happens people, it does. Its better to be educated by it than to abuse it.
