World of Wearable Art Awards 2007
The Montana WOW Awards
Wellington's Montana World of Wearable Art Awards is a montage of theater, dance, color, movement and art.
The awards returned to Wellington for the third year. From humble beginnings in 1987 as a promotion for a rural art gallery in Nelson, the two hour show has grown to become a New Zealand icon event, in 2007 attracting 30,000 people.
Each year the organizers receive over 300 garment entries, from which the judges pre-select 150 to make it onto the catwalk. The internationally acclaimed event has outfits designed by national and international artists, designers and inventors.

California fire
Fires in California
Because of the forest fires affecting Southern California, their homes were forced to leave nearly a million people. The evacuation, which has already been described as the most ambitious in the history of the state, will soon be announced in the new districts of California-stop the spread of fire firefighters remains elusive.
As of Tuesday evening, the state authorities had information that the fire had destroyed about 1,300 homes. Another 68,000 buildings, according to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, are in close proximity to the homes and could catch fire at any time.

Miss Earth 2007, the 7th edition of the pageant organized by Carousel Productions Inc, will take place on November 11, 2007. The venue will take place again in Manila, Philippines and a special tour in Vietnam. The total number of delegates are unconfirmed yet until their arrival at the host country. As of the 25 of October 95 countries have selected their representative with 81 of them are now in the host country.

Models replace ball boys at Madrid Masters
Model ball girls at Tennis Masters Series in Madrid
MADRID - A troupe of models streamed on to the court of the Madrid Masters tennis tournament and into the centre of a controversy about whether they were trivialising the competition.
The 19 to 28-year-olds were drafted in as ball-girls to replace the young fans who usually run around picking up stray balls and handing towels to players and will work in most of the televised matches at the tournament.

New Beijing Airport to be World's Largest
China is building a new airport in Beijing that is expected to be open in time for the 2008 Olympics. At over a million square meters, and an expected 53 million passengers per year, it will surely become the world's largest and most technologically advanced. "It was built using sustainable design principles," according to Business Week, "including southeast-oriented skylights (to maximize heat from early sunshine) and an integrated environment-control system that uses minimal energy."

The Longaberger Company is a maker of handcrafted maple wood baskets. It is one of the primary employers in the southeastern Ohio area near Dresden, Ohio. Started in Dresden, the company is now headquartered in Newark, Ohio. A family-owned and operated business, the Longaberger Company was started by Dave Longaberger and after his death is now owned by daughters Tami Longaberger and Rachel Longaberger.
The Longaberger corporate headquarters on State Route 16 is a local landmark and a well-known example of novelty architecture, since it takes the shape of their biggest seller, the "Medium Market Basket". Originally, Dave Longaberger wanted all of the Longaberger buildings to be shaped like baskets, but only the headquarters was completed by his death. After his death, further basket-shaped buildings were vetoed by his daughters. Read More
